Brian is an Arkansan, originally from Springdale, where he grew up spending most of his time in sports and the outdoors. He graduated from Missouri Southern State University where he was able to continue his passion for baseball. When he wasn’t on the playing field, you would most likely find him in the Ozark woods, rivers, and lakes of Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. Duck hunting and wing shooting were favorites of his in the winter months, but any other time you would find him fishing … mostly fly fishing.
He is a third generation fly fisherman and started carrying a fly rod at the age of 12. When it comes to fly tying, time on the vise is something he truly enjoys. Brian started tying regularly at 14 and has had many great mentors along the way. In his boat, everything you fish with he has personally tied. Brian started fishing the four major tailwaters here in Arkansas frequently in 2009. By 2010, he quickly realized that the White and Norfork tailwaters were his favorite waters to fish!
Brian had a 21-year career as a district manager over asset protection with a U.S. fortune 40 company where he learned the importance of great leadership and teamwork. During this time, he started a family and is happily married with three wonderful daughters. In 2016, he started guiding as an independent guide.
Brian is sometimes asked, “Why did you start guiding and leave such a great career?” Well, it’s pretty simple ... you will hear him say he loves being on the water, enjoys people, and likes the satisfaction of seeing individuals develop/grow in this great sport. It just made sense for him. When asked what he loves most about our home waters, he says, “It’s the diversity … like fishing the smallest of midge patterns to a 7" streamer. It’s the seasonal hatches with early spring caddis, early summer sulfurs, late summer/fall banging banks with foam hoppers, and winter chunking big streamers.” When asked which he likes best ... well, he likes it all!
Know that on his boat you will find a day full of southern hospitality and a fun time!
